Originally built by sweedish colonists but later became the head of british trading forte for human cargo and goods 'exported' out. Many years later after the end of slavery, the large dungeon/cell where the slaves were kept was excavated and about a 1-2 feet of harden human feces was dug up off the concrete. I visited in 2005, hundreds of years after the slave trade and the dungeon still smelled like as if humans were rotting there...
